Turn on push notifications (iOS)
Push notifications are how event reminders and family activity reach you when the app is closed. Two minutes of setup, and Quok can tap you on the shoulder at the right moment.
On your iPhone
Section titled “On your iPhone”-
Install Quok from the App Store and sign in.
-
When the app asks for permission to send notifications, tap Allow. That’s genuinely all there is to it - Quok registers your device automatically.
Tapped “Don’t allow”? Here’s the fix
Section titled “Tapped “Don’t allow”? Here’s the fix”The app can’t re-ask, but the OS can:
- iOS: Settings → Notifications → Quok → Allow Notifications
Then open Quok once - it picks up the new permission and re-registers on launch.
Each device registers separately, so allow notifications on every iPhone where you want them.
In your browser
Section titled “In your browser”The web app can send reminders as browser notifications too. Go to Settings → Notifications, enable web push, and accept the browser’s permission prompt. If you blocked it earlier, re-allow notifications for getquok.com in your browser’s site settings. (A few browsers don’t support web push - Quok will tell you if yours is one.)
Fine-tune what you get
Section titled “Fine-tune what you get”Settings → Notifications is your control panel. Each family member has their own preferences:
- Channels - email, mobile push, and web push, each on or off independently.
- Family activity - separate toggles for “someone added a task” and “someone added a shopping item”. These go to your phone, and never fire for things you added yourself.
- Quiet hours - set a window (say 22:00–07:00) and Quok holds its tongue: event reminders wait and arrive when the window ends; activity pings inside the window are simply skipped. Works correctly across midnight and time-zone changes.
Reminder emails also carry a one-click unsubscribe link that switches the email channel off - no sign-in required.
