Manage reminder timing & preferences
The right notification at the right time is help; the same one at 23:40 is noise. Quok gives every family member their own controls for both sides of that line.
Reminder timing lives on the event
Section titled “Reminder timing lives on the event”When a reminder fires is set on each event - open the reminders field when creating or editing one and pick from at the time of the event up to 1 week before, or enter a custom offset. Up to five reminders per event, and on repeating events they fire before every occurrence. New events start with no reminders, so the calendar only speaks up where you’ve asked it to. Full details: Event reminders & notifications.
Everything below is about how those reminders - and other notifications - reach you. It’s all per-person: your choices never affect the rest of the family.
Your control panel: Settings → Notifications
Section titled “Your control panel: Settings → Notifications”Channels - three independent switches, all on by default:
- Mobile push (the iPhone app - set it up)
- Web push (your browser)
A reminder goes out on every channel you’ve left on. Most people settle on push for immediacy, with email as backup - or email only, for a calmer inbox-driven life.
Family activity - separate toggles for “someone added a task” and “someone added a shopping item” pushes. These are about the others’ additions; you’re never pinged for your own. (How list activity pings work)
Quiet hours
Section titled “Quiet hours”Set a window - say 22:00–07:00 - and Quok holds its tongue, in your timezone, midnight-crossing windows included. Two behaviors worth knowing:
- Event reminders are delayed, never lost - one that comes due at 23:30 arrives when the window ends.
- Activity pings are skipped - by morning, “milk was added last night” isn’t news worth a notification; it’s just on the list.
Unsubscribing from email
Section titled “Unsubscribing from email”Every reminder email has a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer - it flips your email channel off, no sign-in needed. Flip it back on any time in Settings → Notifications.
