Add, check off, and remove items
Add items fast
Section titled “Add items fast”Open a list and type into the add bar at the top - press Enter (or tap add) and keep typing. It’s built for rattling off the week’s groceries in one go.
On shopping and grocery lists, Quok won’t pile up duplicates. Add something that’s already on the list and it merges onto the existing row instead of making a second one - matching quantities are added up (say, “2 kg” then “1 kg” becomes “3 kg”). Re-add something you’d already checked off and it hops back onto the list, ready to buy again. Different units for the same name - like “500 g” and “2 loaves” - are treated as different products and get their own rows. To-do and packing lists don’t merge, so you can repeat the same wording as often as you like.
Need more than a name? Open an item to edit its details:
- Shopping and grocery items can carry a quantity and unit - “2 kg”, “3 packs”, whatever you’d write on paper. The unit is free text; use what your family uses.
- To-do and packing items can have a due date, which shows as a chip on the item until it’s done.
- Any item can be assigned to one or more members - their avatars appear on the row, and Quok can notify the family that a new task or shopping item was added.
Adding and editing items is for organizers and adults; everyone - kids, guests, providers - can check items off.
Check things off
Section titled “Check things off”Tap the checkbox. The item gets a strikethrough and moves to the Completed section at the bottom of the list; on your phone there’s a half-second grace period, so a stray tap is easy to undo. Checked the wrong thing? Tap it again - it comes right back.
Completed items stay visible, which is handy for “did anyone actually buy the milk?” conversations.
Remove items
Section titled “Remove items”Open the item and choose Delete. Quok asks you to confirm - deleting is permanent, unlike checking off. Use delete for “we don’t need this at all”, and the checkbox for “done”.
Reorder and move
Section titled “Reorder and move”Drag items to reorder them within a list - the order syncs for everyone. You can also move an item to a different list from its edit screen, when the light bulbs end up on the grocery list.
Everything is live
Section titled “Everything is live”Every add, check, and delete syncs to the whole family within a moment or two. If your changes ever seem stuck, see App won’t sync.
