Rename or delete a list
Lists accumulate. “Beach trip packing” outlives the beach trip. Here’s how to keep the collection matching real life.
Renaming and deleting lists is for organizers and adults - kids, guests, and providers use lists but don’t restructure them. (Roles and permissions)
Rename a list
Section titled “Rename a list”- Web: open the list and click its title - it turns into a text field. Type the new name and press Enter. (The list’s ⋯ menu has a Rename option too.)
- Mobile: open Manage lists, tap the list, change the name, and save.
The new name appears for everyone immediately. Renaming changes nothing else - items, order, and history all stay.
Delete a list
Section titled “Delete a list”- Web: open the list’s ⋯ menu and choose Delete list.
- Mobile: open Manage lists and use the list’s delete action.
Quok asks you to confirm - deleting a list deletes all its items with it, checked and unchecked, and there’s no undo. If any items still matter, move them to another list first from each item’s edit screen.
The two lists you can’t delete
Section titled “The two lists you can’t delete”Every family has a default To-do list and a default shopping list. These can be renamed but not deleted - Quok relies on them as the safe landing place for quick-added items, so the delete option simply isn’t offered there.
A list’s type is fixed
Section titled “A list’s type is fixed”Renaming can’t turn a shopping list into a to-do list - the type (shopping, groceries, to-do, packing) is set at creation because it shapes what items can hold. Need the other kind? Create a new list and move the items over. (Create a shared list)
Done ≠ delete
Section titled “Done ≠ delete”For a list you’ll want again - the weekly groceries, the standard camp packing - don’t delete it when everything’s checked off. Completed items can be re-added with a tap next time, which is the whole trick of reusable lists. (Add, check off, and remove items)
