Event reminders & notifications
A calendar only helps if it speaks up in time. Reminders make sure the right people hear about an event before it starts.
Add reminders to an event
Section titled “Add reminders to an event”When creating or editing an event, open the reminders field and pick when to be nudged:
At the time of the event · 5 min · 15 min · 30 min · 1 hour · 2 hours · 1 day · 1 week before
You can also enter a custom offset, and stack up to five reminders on one event - say, a day before and an hour before the school recital.
Who gets reminded
Section titled “Who gets reminded”Reminders go to the event’s creator and everyone assigned to it - each person gets their own notification. Assign the kids’ dentist appointment to your partner and the reminder lands on their phone, not just yours.
How reminders reach you
Section titled “How reminders reach you”Each person receives reminders through the channels they’ve enabled in their notification preferences:
- Push notification on their iPhone (set up push)
- Email, with a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer
Turning a channel off in Settings → Notifications stops reminders on that channel only - the other keeps working.
Quiet hours
Section titled “Quiet hours”If you’ve set quiet hours in your notification preferences, reminders that would fire inside the window wait and arrive when it ends - they’re delayed, never lost. See notification preferences.
Checking a reminder’s status
Section titled “Checking a reminder’s status”Open an event and you’ll see your reminders listed with their time and state - scheduled, sent, or skipped. “Skipped” usually means the channel was disabled when the reminder came due.
Not arriving?
Section titled “Not arriving?”Run through Why am I not getting notifications? - it covers the usual suspects, from OS permissions to quiet hours.
