Children's privacy
Quok is a family product, so children’s data deserves its own plain-language page. The design principle behind all of it: the parents are in control, and we collect as little as possible.
Kids don’t have accounts
Section titled “Kids don’t have accounts”A child in Quok is a managed profile inside your family - created by an adult, controlled by the adults, with no login of its own. There’s no email address, no password, no device registration, no way for a child to sign in or be contacted. (How managed profiles work)
What we store about a child
Section titled “What we store about a child”Only what an adult in the family enters:
- A display name (a first name is plenty) and a color
- Optionally a photo, birthday, and relationship
- Whatever schedule and chores the family assigns to them
That’s the whole list. Nothing is collected from the child, because the child never interacts with our servers directly.
What we never do
Section titled “What we never do”- No advertising to children - or to anyone. Quok has no ads.
- No profiling - a child’s data is used to show their swimming lesson on your family’s calendar, and for nothing else.
- No selling data - not children’s, not anyone’s.
- Usage analytics from the app have identifying details scrubbed before they leave the device.
Parents stay in control
Section titled “Parents stay in control”Adults in the family can review, edit, or delete a child’s profile at any time from the Members page. Deleting the profile removes it and its assignments immediately; when the family itself is deleted, every child profile and everything attached to it is erased with it. (Deletion timelines)
Two things worth knowing as the adults:
- What kids see: on a shared device, a kid sees the family calendar minus other people’s private events. What each role can see and do is in Roles and permissions.
- Accounts are for adults: signing up for Quok requires being old enough to hold an account (per the Terms of Service). Older teens with their own devices join by invitation, as account holders - that’s a family decision, made by you.
