Export or delete your data

Your family’s data is yours. Here’s how to take a copy with you, and how to have it removed.

Ask us, and we’ll send it. There’s no self-serve export button yet, so email privacy@getquok.com from your account’s email address and ask for an export. We’ll send your account and family data in a machine-readable format. Access requests like this are your right under the Australian Privacy Principles (and GDPR where it applies), and they’re free.

Keeping calendars in sync elsewhere is a different need with a built-in answer: the calendar feed (part of Quok Plus) gives you a live, read-only feed of the family’s shared events for Google or Apple Calendar. (Subscribe in your calendar)

Individual things - an event, a list, a member profile - you delete in the app, immediately and permanently. Adults manage most of this; see Roles and permissions.

Everything at once means deleting your account: Preferences/Settings → Account → Delete account. In short - you’re locked out immediately, data is erased after a 30-day grace window (contact support within it to undo), and if you’re the family’s last member the entire family’s content goes too. The full walkthrough, including the organizer rule, is in Delete your account.

What When
Deleting an event, item, or member in the app Immediate
Account deletion grace window (restorable via support) 30 days
Account and data erased After the 30 days
Copies in encrypted backups expire Up to ~35 further days

A few things fall outside the erase-everything sweep, by design or by law:

  • Your family’s shared content survives your deletion if other members remain - it belongs to the family. (How that works)
  • Exports you’ve already received and events synced into external calendars via the feed are in your (or their) hands, not ours.
  • Minimal records we’re legally required to keep may be retained where the law says so.
