Manage a child or limited member

Not everyone in a family needs an account. Quok’s managed profiles put kids, occasional guests, and helpers on the calendar without an email address, a login, or a device of their own - the adults run their profile for them.

Add a managed profile

Organizers and adults can add profiles:

1. Open the Members page and choose Add member.

2. Pick Profile only - the option for members without their own sign-in.

3. Give them a name and a color (it marks their events everywhere), and optionally a photo, birthday, and relationship.

4. Choose the role: kid, guest, or provider, and save.

Add a birthday and Quok puts it on the family calendar every year automatically. (Birthdays & anniversaries)

What a managed profile can do

A profile is a full member of the family everywhere it matters:

• They appear in the members list and on the calendar in their color.
• Events, chores, and list items can be assigned to them - “Piano - Zosia, Tuesday 16:00”.
• On a shared family device (the kitchen iPad, a parent’s phone), kids can see their day and check off their own chores and list items.

What they can’t do is sign in, so nothing about the family leaves your devices. What each role sees and does is spelled out in Roles and permissions.

Edit or remove a profile

Open the member on the Members page - organizers and adults can change everything (name, color, photo, birthday, relationship) or remove the profile entirely. Removal takes their assignments and automatic birthday event with it; the rest of the calendar is untouched. (Removing members)

When a kid grows into an account

Old enough for their own device and email? Today that’s a two-step: invite them by email (as an adult - typically right for older teens) and remove their old kid profile. A direct “upgrade this profile” flow is on our list.
