Recurring events

Most of family life repeats. Set the rule once and the event keeps showing up - no copy-pasting swimming practice into every week.

When creating or editing an event, open the repeat field. The quick options adapt to the date you picked:

  • Does not repeat (the default)
  • Daily
  • Weekly on Tuesday
  • Monthly on day 15
  • Yearly on June 5
  • Custom…

Custom… covers real-world rhythms the presets don’t:

  • Every N days / weeks / months / years - physio every 2 weeks, car service every 6 months.
  • Weekly on several days - pick the weekdays, say Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
  • Monthly by weekday - “the 2nd Wednesday” instead of “the 14th”, for things like club meetings.

And an end for the series:

  • Never - runs until you delete it
  • On date - the last day of the season
  • After N times - a 10-session course

When you edit or delete one, Quok asks how far the change should reach - This event, This and following events, or All events. Move one swim practice without touching the rest, or shift the whole series to its new day. The full breakdown is in Edit, reschedule, or delete an event.

A single moved or cancelled occurrence stays an exception - the rest of the series keeps its rhythm.

  • Clock changes don’t shift your events. A 09:00 school run stays at 09:00 local time on both sides of a daylight-saving switch - never drifting to 08:00 or 10:00.
  • Reminders repeat too. Reminders on a repeating event fire before every occurrence. (Reminders)
  • Birthdays don’t need a rule. Members’ birthdays and family anniversaries recur yearly on their own. (Birthdays & anniversaries)
