Anniversaries & birthdays

The dates you must never miss are the ones Quok manages for you. Enter them once; they come back every year on their own.

Add a birthday to any member’s profile - yours in your own profile, a kid’s on their managed profile (how to edit profiles) - and Quok places an all-day birthday event on the family calendar every year, automatically.

Include the year of birth and the calendar shows the age, so nobody has to do arithmetic before writing the card. Leave the year off if you’d rather not share it - the day still appears.

Wedding anniversaries, the day you moved in, adoption days - add them as anniversaries in your family’s settings, with a label and a date. Like birthdays, they return every year as all-day events.

These calendar entries are managed for you, so you change them at the source, not on the calendar:

  • Birthday wrong? Fix the date on the member’s profile.
  • Anniversary over or mislabeled? Edit or remove it in the family’s anniversaries.

The calendar follows immediately - including past and future years. If a member leaves the family, their automatic birthday event goes with them.

Grandma isn’t a member, but her birthday still matters. Create a normal event and pick the birthday event type - it takes the person’s name and optional year of birth, and you give it a yearly repeat yourself. The same works for an anniversary-type event. These behave like any event you own: edit them directly, assign someone to buy the flowers.

Automatic events don’t ring on their own - open the event and add a reminder (a week before for present-buying lead time works well). See Event reminders.
