Remove a member or leave a family

Households change - the babysitter moves on, a teen gets their own place. Here’s how membership ends, in both directions.

Remove a member

Organizers and adults can remove any member except the organizer.

Open the Members page and select the person.
Choose Remove (web: the trash icon in the member panel; mobile: the red Remove button in the edit sheet).
Confirm - “Remove name from the family? This cannot be undone.”

Removal works the same for signed-in members and managed profiles (kids, guests, providers).

What removal does

Their access ends immediately. If they signed in, the family disappears from their app.
The family’s content stays. Events and list items don’t vanish because the person who added them left. Their assignments simply lose that assignee.
Their automatic birthday event comes off the calendar.
If your family uses a calendar feed, the feed link is reset so a removed member’s subscribed calendar stops receiving events - everyone still in the family just copies the new link. (Calendar feed)
Removing is not account deletion - a removed adult keeps their Quok account and can create or join another family.

Leave a family yourself

Quok doesn’t have a self-serve “leave” button yet, so stepping out takes one of two paths:

Ask an organizer or adult to remove you - the everyday route, with exactly the effects above.
Delete your account, if you’re done with Quok entirely. (Delete your account)

The organizer is special

The organizer can’t be removed and can’t walk away while other members remain - a family always needs someone at the wheel. Stepping back as organizer? Open another adult on the Members page and choose Make organizer; you become a regular adult, removable and free to leave like anyone else. (Roles and permissions)
